FACILITY FOR THE SERVICEMEN'S CENTER

   -

We have a three bedroom house that is located 1.1 miles from Barksdale Air Force Base for the Servicemen's Center.  This is a start.  We will live in the house and use one of the bedrooms for Bible Studies and Scripture Memorization.  This house has a big yard and plenty of room for games and cook outs.  We are excited about what God has provided and are now in the process of making plans to build a two-story building (18' w x 28' l x 21" h)  in the back yard for the center.

We are asking God to provide the means through the gifts of churches and individuals to purchase the land and build a building on.  (Jeremiah 33:3).

I heard a preacher tell his church something like this several years ago:  "I have some good news and some bad news about the building fund.  The good news is; we have all the money needed to purchase a new building.  The bad news is; it is still in your pockets."

We need prayer and financial partners to join with us in this good work  (Nehemiah 2:18).  Please click on the Armed Forces Baptist Missions link (http://afbmissions.com) for financial support or for a one time gift toward the building fund.

RICK'S SISTER CANCER PRAYER REQUEST

   -

Rick's sister (Joann Ward) just found out that she has breast cancer.  The doctor found two other areas that she is concerned with and will do Biopsies and a MRI this week.

The doctor also said it is a very aggressive cancer (Category 3).

Please pray for my sister as she goes through the treatments.  Pray for the doctors as they decide how to best treat the cancer.  Also, for her family as they go through this with her.

Most of all, pray that Christ would be glorified through all that takes place in the coming months with my sister and her family.

Romans 8:28 says:  "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

PRAISE REPORT:  Joann is "CANCER FREE" as of 10 November, 2009.

Update:

I wanted to give you an update on my sister, Joann (Mahaney) Ward.  She has met with the surgeon.  Her surgery will be March 9.  She is not sure about what treatment she will need after the surgery.  It will depend on the type of cancer she has.  I also wanted to pass along a praise item.  When Joann first met with the surgeon, the surgeon told her she needed to have two additional biopsies.  One for a smaller lump on the other breast and the other was for a lymph node that looked suspicious.  Both of these biopsies came back benign.  Please pray for both Tim and Joann.  Tim is not a Christian and I am unsure about Joann.  She has asked my mom several questions that lead us to believe she is not saved.  Please pray for Tim, Joann and my oldest sister Raeann as they drive to Florida on Friday and for an opportunity to talk to them about Jesus Christ.  Thanks for your prayers.

24 Feb 09

Rick had the privilege of leading Tim to the Lord last Wednesday.  AMEN!!!  Joann is currently having surgery we ask that you pray for her and the doctors.  Rick's oldest sister is with them and we pray she will have an opportunity to speak to Joann about her relationship with Jesus Christ.  Acts 16:31

Joann had her surgery and is sitting up in bed eating crackers and hopes to go home in 2 or 3 hours.  They removed the lump and 5 lymph nodes.  The lymph nodes were benign.  Keep Praying...

Joann is home and doing very well...AMEN!!!

Joann will start Chemo and Radiation treatments soon...Pray for her as she goes through the procedures for strength and that sh will not be too sick.

27 March, 2009

Joann has had several chemo/radiation treatments the last couple of months.  She shaved off the rest of her hair that did not fall out already.  Some of the treatments make her tired, weak and sometimes sick.  She always has the taste of metal in her mouth (another side affect).  Pray for her to continue to get her strength back and that the treatments will do the job.

27 May, 2009

Joann didn't get to have her Herceptin today because her platelets were low again.  She will have the chemo treatment next Fri.  Other than that, she is doing good.  Also, her husband Tim was baptized this last week and they both joined an Independent Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN.  AMEN!!!

5 June, 2009

Joann had her last chemo.  Doing good so far.  PTL!!!  They decided she is alergic to metal and that is why her port is red.  She puts benadryl on it.

Not sure when she starts radiation.  They will do an echogram first and through out the treatments to make sure it isn't affecting her heart.  Keep praying!!!

25 July, 2009

Joann goes Monday, 3 August, to have a MugaScan.  They put dye in her vein and scan her heart to see if the Chemo did any damage.

Then in the afternoon she will get a CTSim to map for her radiation.  They will mark her with ink (she has it be careful not to rub off) and then in 2 weeks she'll start the radiation.  That will be 5 days per week for 6 1/2 weeks or 32 treatments.  When they start the treatments they will give her permanent markings.

She said she lost 4 pounds with her last treatment.  She said it was the worst.  She feels good now though.

Mom talked to Tim (Joann's Husband).  He is so excited about the Bible.  He told mom he always thought the story of Goliath was a myth.  He was so excited to find out that it was fact.  He seems to like the Proverbs also.  Sounds like he is really growing.  PTL

UPDATE FROM JOANN:  "I'm doing good. I had my last radiation treatment on Sept.25... I still have my Herceptin every 3 weeks until April 2010. I go back to the surgeon on Nov.10th. at that time i'll have a mamogram & find out if I'm cancer free. Have a safe trip. We will be praying for you. Church has been really good. Love you guys, Joann"
